Formulation Prototyping Several option types were developed, and the chosen ingredients were used to create a balm, a body butter and an aqueous skin cream product. Initial chemical, mechanical and biological testing tests have proven the prototype product properties to be stable and of acceptable texture. Another voucher is to be applied for after this one has been claimed as there is a significant level of work to be completed to determine the stability and also to look into a wider range of product such as a product range and other light cream types with different active oils in new formulations.

CISD feel the real innovation in this project was delivered in the CAD design. The initial design developed in voucher 1 satisfied all the needs of the stakeholder in terms of safety and functionality. However, this design included over 15 separate injection moulding parts, making tooling unaffordable to the start up. In the second voucher, clever design reduced the number of parts to 7 and removed the need for ultrasonic welding considerably reducing the cost of production without compromising safety or functionality.
