Polymer Processing

Research in PRISM/APT is underpinned by our unrivalled background in polymer engineering dating back to the 1970s and we are widely recognised as the national Centre of excellence for research in polymer engineering. To this end, we provide access to both academic and industrial collaborators to a range of industry-relevant polymer processing equipment. This equipment is housed in our recently renovated APT research facility which includes state-of-the-art equipment for injection moulding, extrusion, compounding and polymer-based additive manufacturing.

These facilities are strongly supported by Enterprise Ireland through their Capital Equipment funding calls (2019-2022) and through partnerships with equipment suppliers such as Arburg UK, TSM Controls and Sumitomo Demag who utilise our facilities to showcase their equipment to our industry clients and a range of polymer trainees/graduates.   Our research aims to develop industry-relevant, scalable solutions to research questions across all TRL levels.
