Research Scientist
Name: Bor Shin Chee
Qualifications: PhD in Polymer Engineering
Areas of Interest: Plastic, Recycling
Dr. Bor Shin Chee is a postdoctoral researcher at the Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest (TUS), Ireland. She holds an honours degree in Biotechnology and completed her PhD in Polymer Engineering in 2021. Her PhD research focused on developing innovative freeze-thawed polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogels for biomedical applications. Specifically, she explored the drug delivery systems of various water-soluble and poorly soluble drugs within freeze-thawed PVA hydrogels using electrospinning techniques. After earning her PhD, Dr. Bor Shin joined the Polymer, Recycling, Industrial, Sustainability, and Manufacturing Research Institute (PRISM) at TUS, where she is currently involved in plastic recycling projects, particularly the depolymerization of polymers such as PET and PE. She is also working on developing bioplastic prototypes using single-cell protein with good barrier properties. Dr. Bor Shin is an expert in electrospinning, nanotechnology, drug delivery, plastic recycling and packaging. ORCID: https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1606-1759
