Compounding
Our compounders can analyse polymers for their processing/ plasticising behaviour such as their melting behaviour/ heat and shear stability, plasticiser, absorption etc We have the right mix of knowledge, expertise and technological capabilities to deliver the highest levels of quality and service every time.
Twin-screw extrusion
Twin-screw extruders are composed of two identical screws inside the barrel arranged side by side. These types of extruders are indicated for applications where intimate mixing is required as the geometry and configuration of the screws are specially designed to fulfil this purpose. The intensity of the shear during processing can be increased or reduced by the inclusion and orientation of different shearing elements at the moment of designing the screws. The inclusion of kneading paddles and the variation of the setup angles between them provide wide options to control the degree of shear and mixing between components. APT is equipped with a range of intermeshing co-rotating of twin-screw extruders for small and large production batches for pharmaceutical, packaging, biomaterials and engineering applications.
Brabender
The Brabender MetaStation 4E is lab-scale equipment for polymer melt mixing, blending, testing and process monitoring. The system works with three different adds-on up to 400 C.
The highly adaptable system offers processing versatility through the interchanging of the following add-ons:
- Single screw extruder with two screw designs, 2:1 and 4:1 compression ratio.
- Conical counter-rotate twin screw extruder suitable for processing shear and heat-sensitive materials like PVC. Regardless of the degree of flight filling, feeding uniformity, polymer flow characteristics, or back pressure, the screws provide uniform forward flow.
- Internal mixer with 55 cc mixing chamber, which is a batch system containing two counter-rotate blades. It is a reliable tool for making small batches before scaling up. This feature is an appropriate machine for the preparation of masterbatches, blends and thermoplastic composite in accurate dosages.
There are two die-heads available which can be installed on extruders to make polymeric sheets, and strands with different diameters. In addition, a ribbon die is available for doing the capillary rheometery test under real extrusion conditions.
High-temperature compounder
The high-temperature compounder is a co-rotating twin-screw extruder that works in a temperature range up to 450 ˚C, allowing the processability of high-performance polymers such as polyether-ether ketone (PEEK), polyamides (PA), and polyetherimide (PEI). High-temperature resins offer better mechanical performance, dimensional stability, and wear and chemical resistance, in comparison to standard polymers. Due to its twin-screw design, this compounder is also ideal for developing filled or blended resin formulations with a processing capacity of up to 15kg/h, depending on the formulation
Planetary Extruder
Planetary Roller Extruder is a modular compounding system suitable for a wide range of applications such as temperature-sensitive materials processing, complex reactive extrusion, degassing and other complex mixing processes. The modular system offers mechanically controlled process zones and individual temperature-controlled zones to design a targeted, efficient and material-friendly regulation of individual phases of the extrusion process.
