Gavin Keane is the lead design engineer for the Enterprise Ireland-funded APT Technology Gateway and Centre for Industrial Services and Design at the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS). A graduate of Maynooth University with a First Class Honours in BSc Product Design and is now currently working towards a PhD in Polymer Additive Manufactured part-time. Following a keen interest in product development, Gavin joined CISD, located on the TUS Campus in 2016. Since joining the CISD team Gavin has developed a proven track record developing products from concept to full-scale production across all polymer sectors. To date, Gavin has been involved in over 150 projects leading innovation vouchers, feasibility studies, partnerships, and commercial projects with start-ups to large-scale multinational companies.  Gavin strongly believes in applying a user-centered design approach to projects he is involved in. His research interests are in additive manufacturing, sustainability, and design for manufacturing. ”User research is one of my strongest attributes, alongside my ability to adapt to challenging situations, I enjoy exploring new approaches to solving everyday challenges and pride myself on developing a portfolio of products that are not only innovative and sustainable but also practical and efficient to manufacture.”
